Storm of Night

From the West it came, huffing and puffing,
The wind noisily driving the snow.
The air was cold, the ground was wet,
But still the white did lay.

For a day and a night, the flakes layered the ground.
The roads, soon were covered and white.
The plows ran slowly down the tracks,
Left by brave wanderers in the night.

But then from the East came the sun,
To hush the wind and settle the snow.
The travelers once again did ply
The roads again to their destined end.

Night Returns

Standing on the corner, the full moon slowing falling,
A single light, from a window high,
Contrasts against the moon lighted sky.
The street abounds with shadows around,
The darkness slowly overcomes the sight.
Above the living plants on window ledge stand,
Casting an image on the glass.
The moon passes into night,
At last the single light disappears.
The emptiness of Night resumes.
