The Times of Winter

Times of Winter

Night ends but the sunlight of day is reluctant
The chill winds of the West Continue to Blow
The gray dawn awakens the mind, but
Sleep still lives in the head

The snow is stopped but the fall remains
The first to arrive in the darkest dawn is the Hare
And soon in the distance the call of the Jay
Pierces the peacefull calm

The call is soon followed by the beating of wings
The Junco and Turtle Dove walk into view
Then the flutter of smaller wings enters the sound
And the Finch and Sparrows arrive at the purch

But non-the-less, the awakening continues
As dark turns to dawn
The snow is not forever
It soon will be gone

The Lonely Entertainer

Sometimes when the season is supposed to be Joyous and Happy..
The words won’t flow.
I was sitting looking at favorite places, Hoping to heighten the spirit.
I found this picture I took while visiting on of my favorite places,
And the thoughts of that place brightened my face and reminded me of a wonderful time.
I call this piece a thought to remember, a thought to store away for another time when the sky is cloudy and a smile needs to be aroused.

Lonely Entertainer

I was sitting in an outdoor café..
Watching people, boys and girls, couples, young people, scurrying on their designated path.
The sky was gray, the wind was brisk, the air contained a nip of frost.
Heels clicked on the tarmac street of the market place.
The coffee was hot and steamy in the outdoor air.
In the distance the sound of the concertino.
Bearly audible against the street noise.
I took my camera from it case and searched the distance for the sound.
Alas, the sight from above came into my lens.
I did not know the tune, the notes were muddled and soft.
But there the Lonely Entertainer sat astride his scooter.
Hoping, anticipating the sound of coins into his nearby container.
Enough for a meal, a warm drink or better.
But even so, some joy and happiness entered the eyes of the passersby
As the sound continued on.
